"Earth Guard" – Strengthening Environmental Awareness Through International Collaboration

Rotaract Club of Uva Wellassa University-Badulla (RID - 3220) successfully organized and implemented the international service initiative “Earth Guard” under the International Service Avenue, with the objective of promoting environmental awareness, civic responsibility, strengthening international fellowship, and encouraging meaningful discussions on global environmental and social challenges. The project was conducted under two phases: "Global Warning 3.0" and "Civic Sense", in collaboration with international Rotaract clubs.

The first phase, "Global Warning 3.0", was organized on the 25th of October 2025 in collaboration between Rotaract Club of Uva Wellassa University-Badulla (RID - 3220) and Rotaract Club of Zenith (RID - 3233). This project focused on raising awareness about climate change, global warming, and sustainable environmental practices among youth and Rotaractors. The session was conducted online, creating a platform for participants from both clubs to exchange ideas, knowledge, and perspectives regarding current environmental issues. Informative presentations highlighted the causes and impacts of global warming, while discussions encouraged participants to think critically about practical solutions and responsible environmental behavior. The project also strengthened international understanding and cooperation between the two clubs while inspiring participants to engage in eco-friendly initiatives in their own communities.

The second phase of the project, “Civic Sense”, was conducted on the 3rd of January 2026 in collaboration between Rotaract Club of Uva Wellassa University-Badulla (RID - 3220) and Rotaract Club of TIT & Science Bhopal (RID - 3040). This phase was organized as an interactive civic discussion via Zoom, where members from both clubs actively participated in meaningful conversations related to environmental and social responsibilities. During the discussion, participants shared the major environmental and civic issues faced within their respective communities, along with possible suggestions, solutions, and future expectations for creating a more sustainable society. The session encouraged mutual learning, cultural exchange, and collaborative thinking while emphasizing the importance of civic responsibility and environmental consciousness among youth.

Overall, “Eco Guard” became a successful international initiative that not only enhanced awareness about environmental sustainability but also strengthened the bond between international Rotaract clubs through knowledge sharing and collaborative discussions. The project reflected the commitment of young leaders towards building a greener, more responsible, and environmentally conscious future.
