Fellowship Visit

The Hill Country Fellowship Visit is one of the most anticipated annual initiatives in the Rotaract calendar – a time when Rotaractors come together to escape the busy city life, embrace nature, and strengthen the bonds of friendship. For the year 2025/2026, this exciting adventure was hosted by the Rotaract Club of ICBT, Rotaract Club of Colombo Heritage, Rotaract Club of Moratuwa, and Rotaract Club of Uva Wellassa University – Badulla.

This year’s fellowship visit took Rotaractors deep into the heart of the hill country, where scenic trails, campfire nights, and shared laughter created memories that will last a lifetime. The project wasn’t just about travel – it was about celebrating unity, teamwork, and the Rotaract spirit of collaboration.

The Planning Behind the Adventure

Great experiences don’t happen overnight – they are carefully planned. The journey began on 8th July 2025, when the Rotaract District Steering Committee’s Club Service Team created a WhatsApp group with the Presidents and Secretaries of the host clubs.

From then on, a series of meetings, site visits, and follow-ups shaped the event. Meals were arranged, transportation was confirmed, and the breathtaking Bambaragala Patana was finalized as the campsite. Every detail – from tents and bonfire spots to emergency protocols – was thoroughly thought through. By the first week of August, everything was in place, ready for an unforgettable fellowship.

The Journey Begins

The excitement officially kicked off on 9th August 2025, right after the 13th Installation Ceremony of RAC Uva Wellassa University – Badulla. Participants freshened up, had lunch, and departed the university at 4:30 PM in three buses.

The ride itself was filled with energy and laughter, as members bonded on the way to Bambaragala Patana. By 6:30 PM, the buses arrived, parking near the school grounds, and the adventurous walk toward the campsite began with equipment and smiles in tow.

A Night Under the Stars

As dusk fell, tents were set up, and the heart of the evening came alive – the bonfire. The flames lit up the hill country night as Rotaractors gathered around, singing, laughing, and sharing stories. Dinner of noodles with egg was served around 9:00 PM, giving everyone the fuel for more fun.

Later at 12:00 AM, a much-loved midnight snack of Pol Rotti with Lunumiris and plain tea was served, adding to the warmth of the night. The fellowship carried on late into the evening, as members cherished the joy of togetherness under a starlit sky.

A Fresh Morning and Happy Goodbyes

The next morning, before departure, everyone gathered for a group photograph, capturing the spirit of unity that defined the visit. Around 8:30 AM, the team left the campsite and returned to Uva Wellassa University, where breakfast sandwiches and facilities to freshen up were provided.

To conclude the experience, lunch packs catered by Grand Heritage Badulla were distributed at the university premises, giving everyone a hearty meal before parting ways.

More Than Just a Visit

The Hill Country Fellowship Visit wasn’t only about camping or traveling – it was about friendship, teamwork, and collaboration. Hosted by four clubs with the support of the Rotaract District Club Service team, the project stood as proof of what can be achieved through unity and careful planning.

Through bonfires, shared meals, laughter, and nature, Rotaractors walked away with stronger bonds, cherished memories, and a renewed sense of fellowship.

The Hill Country Fellowship Visit 2025/26 will be remembered not just as a trip, but as an experience of togetherness – where nature met friendship, and fellowship blossomed in the hills.
